Revision notes
What is rate?
A rate compares how one quantity changes with another quantity. In general,
$ \text{Rate: Quantity 1 per Quantity 2 = }$ $ { \text{Quantity 1} \over \text{Quantity 2} } $
Example
Harold views $10$ Instagram profiles in $8$ minutes. Find
(a) the number of minutes spent per profile,
Answer: $ 0.8 \text{ minutes per profile} $
(b) and the number of profiles viewed per minute.
Answer: $ 1.25 \text{ profiles per minute} $
Speed, distance and time formula
$ \text{Speed = }$ $ { \text{Distance} \over \text{Time} } $
$ \text{Average speed = }$ $ { \text{Total Distance} \over \text{Total Time} } $
Note: $ \text{Average speed } \ne \text{Average of two speeds} $
How to convert from m/s to km/h (and vice versa)
$ \text{1 km = }$ $ 1000 $$ \text{ m} $
$ \text{1 m = }$ $ 100 $$ \text{ cm} $
$ \text{1 minute = }$ $ 60 $$ \text{ seconds} $
$ \text{1 hour = }$ $ 60 $$ \text{ minutes = } $ $ 3600 $$ \text{ seconds} $
Example

Answer: $ 241.2 \text{ km/h} $
(b) Convert $90$ km/h to m/s.
Answer: $ 25 \text{ m/s} $
